Originally recorded in 1958, this recording of Sviatoslav Richter's performance of "Pictures at an Exhibition," composed by Modest Mussorgsky, was restored in 1974 and then re-released in 1980. According to the liner notes, "a single train of thought unites these alternating 'pictures' into an integral whole;" the overarching theme is described as a "Promenade" through an art exhibit. Mussorgsky originally composed the piece in 1874, although it was published after his death in 1886.Audio Format
