LP "Desde aquí" by Grupo Sierra Maestra.

Context

The band took its name from the name of the mountain range where Fidel Castro led a guerrilla war between November 1956 and December 1958. At the time of this album's release, in 1988, the nine members of Grupo Sierra Maestra were: Juan de Marcos González Cárdenas (vocals and tres), Jesús Alemañy (trumpet), Carlos González (bongo), Carlos Pisseaux (güiro percussion), Alberto Valdés (vocals and maracas), Luis Bargaza (vocals), José Antonio Rodriguez (vocals and guitar), Eduardo Himely (bajo, tumbadora, and synthesizer), Alejandro Suárez (clave and vocals). Donor received the record as a gift from her grandfather, when he visited her in New Jersey from Las Tunas, Cuba.
