M. C. Merrick papers
[World War II]
M. C. Merrick came to Boulder City in 1937 with the Civilian Conservation Corps where he helped build the Red Mountain Trail northwest of Boulder City, among many other projects. The material here includes ephemera Merrick collected in the European Theater during World War II, as well as a promotional brochure for Boulder Dam on which Merrick penciled notes for his family when he was a CCC boy. Correspondence from Merrick and a short oral history of his CCC experiences in Boulder City is deposited at the Nevada State Museum and Historical Society at Lorenzi Park in Las Vegas. Merrick is quoted extensively in "Hard Work and Far from Home: The Civilian Conservation Corps at Lake Mead, Nevada," by Dennis McBride [Boulder City, NV: Boulder Images, 1995]. Photographs from his CCC days in Boulder City are housed at the Boulder City/Hoover Dam Museum.
