Mary Eaton Collection
Mary Eaton came to southern Nevada with her husband, Bruce [d. 1985] in 1932 looking for work on Hoover Dam. During the 1940s while her husband was in the Navy Sea Bees, Mary went to work as a teacher in the Boulder City Schools, earning a Life Diploma from the Nevada State Board of Education in 1953. The Mary Eaton Collection contains three volumes of Parnassus, her university yearbook; her Nevada State Board of Education Life Diploma; and documents and a scrapbook Mary kept for the Desert Chapter no. 22 of Eastern Star when she served as the organization’s Worthy Matron in 1941-42. Oral history interviews conducted with Mary and her husband, Bruce, in the 1980s are deposited in the Boulder City Library Oral History Project collection.
