Scope and Content

"Boulder City Reminder" records MS 154 "Boulder City Reminder" records In 1938 Thomas Kaufman and Allen O’Hara began publishing Boulder City’s first hometown newspaper, a daily one-pager called the "Boulder City Daily Reminder." Shortly after it began publication, the "Reminder" was taken over by sisters-in-law Jane Cooke and Eliza Carter. Working off the front porch of their Avenue B home, Jane and Eliza produced a one-pager four days a week, expanded to four pages on Friday. The women sold the "Reminder" in December 1941 and the name changed to the "Boulder City News," which is still publishing at the time of this writing [2006]. The account ledgers in this collection date from mid-1938 through mid-1939 and detail the paper’s revenue and expenditures. * * *
