Scope and Content

American Legion and Auxiliary MS 64 American Legion and Auxiliary Boulder City's American Legion Post 31, and Auxiliary Unit 31, were established in 1931 and 1932, respectively. Throughout Boulder's history, both have been among the most active organizations, sponsoring scout troops, educational scholarships, memorial and Armistice [Veteran's] Day celebrations, and Boulder City's Fourth of July Damboree. The organizations' first hall was a large frame building on the corner of Wyoming Street and Nevada Highway, where the National Park Service headquarters stands today [2001]. In 1948, the Legion built a large brick building at 508 California Avenue. Both the Legion and Auxiliary were instrumental in establishing the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City which was dedicated in 1990. The material in this collection includes organizational and membership records, photographs [collection no. 0118], and scrapbooks. * * *
