Scope and Content

Boulder City Mothers Club MS 98 Boulder City Mothers Club In 1932, Hallie Nicholson canvassed the town to locate the 110 children who were listed on the first Cradle Roll at Grace Community Church. She and Zona Courtney formed the original Mothers’ Club from the mothers of these children. This original Mothers Club met once every three months, and then disbanded in 1934. In October of that year, some of the original members, together with mothers from various churches in Boulder City, met at the home of Evelyn Grau to start a new Boulder City Mothers Club. Membership was limited because meetings were held in private homes where space was an issue, and there was often a long waiting list of mothers who wanted to join. The new Boulder City Mothers Club met every second and fourth Monday at 8 p.m. in members’ homes. The club remained active into the 1970s. Boulder City Mothers Club Creed "To place our vocation as homebuilders--as Mothers--above all else; to believe with divine guidance that our homes and our community can be the best. To work more diligently for strong bodies and higher principled children. To maintain a high standard of honest dealing and broadminded tolerance. To lend to the less fortunate a helping hand. To preserve a high courage through discouragements and disappointments, and to keep awake to the fact that we must ever march forward, for better homes." * * *
