Description

Mill buildings and dam in East Exeter on French Stream. The first saw mill in East Exeter was built by Levi Stevens in 1813 and it burned in 1825. John Cutler and Horace Upham bough the property and rebuilt the mills. Later the mills were owned by John L. Cutler and then later by Flavel Butters followed by Flavel's sons. They were last owned and run by L. H. Smith until they burned in 1918. After the last fire no mills were rebuilt in that village. (Postcard postmarked 1911)
