My dear papa
I received your affectionate / letter yesterday, I have just time to write a / few lines to tell you how much I thank / you _ [Ere] this you have received my let - / ter in which I asked permission to be day / scholar here for the two following months / I yet beg you will grant it, I gave enough / reasons, & told you the advantages resul- / ting from it- I retract however what I / said about staying at Mrs. Hopkinsons / I would be a great deal with her but / I could not prevail on myself to leave / my Becky under whose protection I / am- I beg you will not think I will
