My dear father,
I this minute received your letter by/ Dr McLean, I delayed answering your other one,/ on account of not knowing what to say about/ our return- Jim says that if [house business]/ of Mrs Cohen’s which it seems you are aquan-/ted with comes on in April or shortly, he will/ come on with us- but, I think as that is/ very doubtful you had better make an ap-/-peal to George, to be our protector- I am/ sure he cannot refuse me, as it is no long/ time he has had it in his house to do me/ a favor- but this will not only be favoring/ me, but Becky & Matilda also- Becky/ cannot leave house before Sunday [inserted: tomorrow] week, as the passover/

I am sure not-/
