My dear Madam/
I return your message with many thanks for the/ pleasure of pursuing it has with regret that you should/ have deemed it necessary to submit it to my examination/ I think the scene a very touching one both with much/ beautiful simplicity the truth that “fact is stronger/ than fiction” appears from the circumstance that the/ very object which struck me on the first reading was,/ that such apparent quotations in the last hours of/ life are hardly natural. On viewing again your/ note, I observed what had before been overlooked/ was the dialogue is founded as fact./
Wishing you much success in your library/ [unrecovered] that Ludlow [unrecovered] by which/ all shall be consecrated to the sources of your God./
I remain very respectfully/
Yours/
