Thursday morn _ 16th May /
My dear Emma _ Thank your mother for her letter, and give / her the enclosed note from Mr. Moore, which answers her / question about the Dictionary and offers a French translation / of her Italian book, which if she thinks will be useful to her / I will give into Charles Hoffman’s hands, for the first op - / portunity to Hamilton. There are six volumes, I have n [page torn] /
read them and cannot answer for their being well done [page torn] /
I am quite sure it will give Mr. Moore great pleasure / to give them to your Mother if she wishes it / I send his / note in this odd form, to save postage. I should think / Charles might make an agreement with some good book - / seller here to send your mother all works to be trans- / lated [crossed out] from the French or Italian. There are few persons, I dare say / who can translate well enough in this country, and it would be / a mutual advantage _ I hope soon to hear from you, my dear / Em -
Yrs affectionately, F. C.
