I regret very much indeed that I shall be obliged to / leave town without seeing you again / I would have called Saturday, but it / was impossible for I was so much / fatigued with walking the day before / that I could not go out & I was so / lame also that I could not walk. I / intended certainly to see you Sunday / but I have been engaged in making / preparations to leave in the morning. / I do wish to see you my dear friend / and I can scarcely be reconciled to go / and leave you so soon. Pleased to go, it will be delightful / I know and the only serious objections / I have are these, that Mama will / be lonely here without me, and that / I cannot see you now until three or / four weeks more have elapsed. It / is not my intention to remain at / Walden longer than three weeks, / still I should not be surprised if I / did not return in four weeks but / certainly I shall not be absent / longer than four weeks, and as / soon as I dare return my first visit / shall be to you. If you come down / in this part of the city, I wish / you would call and see Mama / Can you not write to me while I / am absent? Direct to Walden, Orange County. I wish you would / send an answer to this.
Your affectionate
