Description

Embossed pint bottle with slug plate from the Sohn & Co. Dairy of Lansing. Sohn & Co. Dairy (1927-1928) - Founded by brothers Albert and Joseph Sohn in March 1927, the Sohn & Co. Dairy was operated at 814 N. Cedar St. This is a scarce 1927 glass pint milk bottle from the Sohn & Co. Dairy. The dairy company grew rapidly in its first year. It was managed by Louis Hufnagel and had eleven employees. Distribution and delivery by truck and horse-drawn wagon carried the pasteurized and raw milk and other dairy products, including cheese, direct to customers and wholesale to dealers. The Sohn & Co. Dairy was purchased by the Lansing Dairy Company in August 1928. Albert and Joseph Sohn founded Sohn Linen Service in 1933, an endeavor which lasted much longer than their 17-month-long dairy. Sohn Linen Service is still in operation nearly 90 years later.
