This photo postcard, by Lansing photographer Clarence A. Baske, depicts the Newbrough House on North Capitol Avenue in 1913. The home was designed by Lansing architect Samuel Butterworth and was built in 1912 for William Newbrough. Newbrough worked for Lansing's E. Bement Co. and Clark Automobile Co. before founding the New Way Motor Co. in Lansing. The home has served many uses over the years, including the Community Chest headquarters and Auto Owners Insurance Co. central headquarters. At 615 N. Capitol Ave., it is currently the home of Mourer-Foster Insurance.
