This original political cartoon was done by Lansing State Journal city editor and cartoonist Pat McCarthy. It shows Michigan Governor George Romney considering a presidential run in 1964. He ultimately did not seriously seek the nomination in 1964, but did in 1968, losing to Barry Goldwater and Richard Nixon, respectively. Governor Romney is the father of U.S. Senator Mitt Romney.
