Cyanotype stereograph of the Michigan State Capitol from the east taken by Lansing photographer Philip Engelhart. J. Cowan Blacksmith advertising in the foreground. Engelhart retired in 1876 and the Capitol was not completed until 1878-79, so it is likely that the two cyanotype stereographs in the collection were taken in his retirement, hence the handmade imprint on the backs.
