Album of the Michigan State Officers and Legislature of 1877-1878 assembled by Lansing photographer Charles H. Mead. Photography work done by J.H. Scotford. This volume belonged to Rep. Samuel M. Stephenson of Menominee with his name "S.M. Stephenson" embossed into the cover. The volume has the original photograph of the Second Capitol and the construction photo of the Third Capitol. The back section for autographs is mostly full.
Each photograph in the album is numbered by hand. Near the back is a list of members of the legislature with numbers written corresponding to their images. These numbers were reconciled with the autograph section in the back and one other known copy of the album with identifications. All but two members have been identified as follows:
