Description

Bayonet, officially called the Sword bayonet, pattern 1907 (Mark I), a British bayonet designed to be used with the Short Magazine Lee Enfield (SMLE) rifle. The Pattern 1907 bayonet was used by the British and Commonwealth forces in both the First and Second World Wars. The entire bayonet was 21 3⁄4 inches (550 mm) long and weighed 16 1⁄2 ounces (470 g) . The blade was 17 inches (430 mm) long, and had a shallow fuller machined into both sides of the blade to save weight and add strength. This example, with its wood grip and black leather scabbard, also has its canvas web belt frog. The marks stamped into the blade in front of the hilt show that it was British Army issue. It was produced in England and passed the bending test.
