A black and white photo of Colonial Troops marching eastward on the The Strand in London as they turn the corner left into Aldwich Street. This parade on May 3, 1919 was one of several Victory Parades in London as Great Britain celebrated its victory over Germany and the Central Powers. On the left is Australia House adorned with the placards bearing the names of WWI battles which were of great significance to the Australian and New Zealand Forces. In the distance, centre right, is the Church of St Clement Danes which is now the Central Church of the Royal Air Force.Photograph Details

Held on May 3,1919, the Victory Parade of over 11,000 Dominion and Colonial troops (Canada, Australia, New Zeland, South Africa) marched through London. They were reviewed by King George V and guests in front of Buckingham Palace.
