Description

A newspaper clipping covering the story of Trooper John B. Hancock from The Royal Montreal Regiment injured in Germany. He was awarded the British Empire Medal for risking his life rescuing a wounded comrade. Taking a chance to rescue his injured staff sergeant, he and his team ventured in a heavily mined field. As it was getting darker, Trooper Hancock put his hand on a land mine. He quickly warned those behind him but lost his leg in the process.
