For a number of years between 1920 and 1939 the RMR was permitted to run summer camps at Carillon, Quebec, for regimental training on the grounds of the estate of Brigadier-General C.J. Armstrong, a distinguished Canadian officer who commanded Military District No. 4 (Montreal Area) 1919-1926.
