A copy of the typed order issued by Canadian Corps Headquarters on July 7,1918 instructing all Canadian Officers to instruct their men as to what limited information they may give if captured by the enemy. It also refers to an attached copy of a two page Order issued by General Ludendorff of the German Army on the subject.
Ludendorff writes the Germans have received French documents. from captured prisoners of the war. These documents gave valuable information concerning the time and details of planned German attacks. He is pointing out the dire consequences of secret information being captured by the enemy. He also directs that instructions be given to all German troops regarding their conduct if captured.
In his second part Ludendorff refers to the fact that French prisoners give very little information and he mentions some alibies they give to explain their lack of knowledge. He directs that German troops be instructed to give similar replies if captured.Lexicon
