A black and white street photographer's photo of Raymond Duval in civilian clothes on a street in London, England. Raymond Duval was born at Chicoutimi, Quebec, in Nov. 1886. He enlisted at Grand Mere, Quebec on August 1, 1916 underwent training and deployed overseas with the with the 244th Bn. CEF . He arrived in England on April 7, 1917, and was posted to the 14th Battalion on May 27, 1917. He was awarded the Military Medal “For great courage near Passchendaele on November 2nd/3rd 1917, in carrying important despatches under heavy enemy fire. This man was rendered unconscious by a shell and upon recovery voluntarily remained at duty. His gallantry, exceptional devotion to duty and reports of the front line situation proved of great value to his Officers.”
