Portrait - CQMS Douglas LintonEntry/Object ID
2017x.27.90Description
A portrait of Company Quartermaster Sergeant (CQMS) Douglas Linton seated in a Quonset hut. These habitations were semi-cylindrical lightweight prefabricated structures made of galvanized steel. Hundreds of thousands of these huts were produced during World War II to accommodate military personnel overseas.
Here, CQMS Douglas is wearing the shirt sleeves of his uniform while the tunic of his battledress is hanging from a shelf. In the background we can see many amenities; towels hung out to dry, newspapers, and a loaded small pack lying on the shelf.Photograph Details
