Canadian CIMIC Visit to a VillageEntry/Object ID
2018.09.29Description
Two members of Canada's Civilian/Military Cooperation (CIMIC) team in the company of members of the Afghan National Police wearing grey uniforms, are meeting with a village's elders. Their assigned Afghan interpreter is seated across from them.
At these meetings the role of CIMIC members was to hold discussions with the leaders of a village to assess the type of improvement projects they would like to see in their village. For example, a new school, better water drainage, irrigation for support agriculture, assistance with security, access to a water well or the construction of roads.
The CIMIC operators would go to these meetings unarmed to promote trust between the village leader and the Canadian Army. Here the weapons were left on the floor.Photograph Details
