Demolition of Explosives and MunitionsEntry/Object ID
2018.09.18Description
A group of Canadian Combat Engineers at work preparing small individual charges of C4 explosives to destroy the gathered munitions and explosives.
Many weapons and ammunitions were abandoned at the end of the war in Afghanistan between 1979-1989. Soviet-era ammunition and explosives would be detonated and destroyed by the Combat Engineers.
Taking advantage of the working military supplies, the Taliban would get hold of the weapons or would make improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Often the IEDs were detonated by tripwires, pressure plates or by remote signal - using cell phone technology.Photograph Details
