A photograph of soldiers from The Royal Montreal Regiment entertaining at a picnic for 300 English children. Some of these had been evacuated for safety from their homes in built-up areas due to enemy bombings, while others were local children from the Sutton area. Here we see a number of soldiers giving "piggy-back" rides to children in what was apparently a race.
