Notes

This event was part of the annual Regimental School of Arms which ran from November to March each year and brought the Regiment much distinction during the 1920s and early 1930s. Created at the suggestion of Lieut.-Col. C.B. Price, it was organized and led by Lieut.-Col. F. H. Wallis, M.C., formerly of the London Rifle Brigade, where he had directed a similar school for the Rifle Brigade. Each year ended with a spectacular gymnastics tournament the climax of which was a tug-of-war competition in which units of the Montreal Garrison entered teams. (Ref. RMR History, Vol.II, pp.3-4)
