A Canadian soldier dressed in the role of Helicopter Door Gunner seated and facing out of a Canadian CH-146 Griffon utility helicopter - designated to deploy alongside the CH-47 Chinook, and provide aerial protection from ground fire threats. He is armed with the Dillon Aero M134D "Minigun" - a 7.62mm six-barrel rotary machine gun.
He is dressed in a crewmember's flight suit, gloves, a load-bearing equipment harness, an aircrew helmet with communications gear, and a Kevlar lined ballistic vest. A carabiner shackle is hanging from the harness - a device necessary to prevent him/her from falling out, while in flight.Photograph Details
