Canadian troops and their NATO allies attending a ramp ceremony at night. The event was held at Kandahar Airfield to commemorate the death of a fallen soldier. Hundreds of NATO troops including 1,500 Canadian, Dutch, American and British troops stand at attention while the body of their comrade is being transported by the guard of honour to a plane that will bring the body to their family.
Taking place under the cover of the night, the time was chosen not only to avoid the scorching heat of the day but also to minimize the risk of insurgent attacks on the plane.Photograph Details
