Scope and Content

A handwritten letter by Lieutenant Philippe Chevalier to his good friend Lieutenant Colonel Henri Desrosiers. Philippe had sustained a gunshot wound and was sent to England to recover at Harewood House in Hanover Square, London. In this letter, Philippe is writing to Henri asking him to “pull strings” in Canada to permit Philippe to return to home to join the newly formed 163rd Battalion led by Henri Desrosiers. Philippe also shares that his brother Pierre Chevalier might also wish to join the 163rd and would make a good Transport Officer. Philippe did join the 163rd Bn. before moving on to other units and appointments, while Pierre served in several units but not the 163rd.
