2018.09.105Description
Members of the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery are preparing to fire an M777 155mm Howitzer.
In addition to the traditional "glass and iron sights/mounts," the Canadian M777 also uses a Digital Gun Management System (DGMS) permitting the gun to fire up to five shells per minute at targets up to 30 kilometres away.
Although the Howitzer is designed to be towed by a vehicle, the Canadian guns were typically slung under a Chinook CH47 Helicopter. This reduced the risk of ambush and permitted guns to be ready to fire within 2 to 3 minutes.Photograph Details
