Description

The statue dates from 1793 and represents the 18th century West Yorkshire Regiment drummer. The West Yorkshire Regiment and the RMR, both 14th battalions have a very close relationship and are sister regiments. This statue was presented to the RMR in 1925 in representation of this close relationship. The statue mysteriously disappeared in 1956 while accompanying the RMR to Valcartier, but was recovered in 1981. A replica had been produced in the meantime, and that replica was given to the RSM upon the safe return of the original.

Use

The statue is meant to preside at formal occasions, placed in front of the Commanding Officer
