Description

Members of the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Montreal Regiment, marching on Sherbrooke Street, Montreal, taking part in the sixth Victory Loan Campaign. This campaign was launched on April 24, 1944, by Prime Minister MacKenzie King and was to finish on May 13, 1944. The men are dressed in battledress uniforms and are wearing their personal weapons (rifles & pistols). They are also wearing their helmets, respirators and carrying their web gear. The goal was to show a soldier's full attire to the public in the hope to stimulate donations to the Victory Loan Campaign. Here the parade is passing the Saluting Base which was on the steps of the Cercle Universitaire on Sherbrooke Street.
