Portrait of Comrade Lawrence Flenley. He was president of The Royal Montreal Regiment Association, Branch 14 Royal Canadian Legion in 1964. Lawrence Flenley enlisted on April 23, 1915, at Chatham, New Brunswick with the 55th Battalion CEF. He saw service and was injured in the Great War. He fought in the Battle of Mount Sorrel and said the following: “The Germans had balloons up there watching what was going on and we were moving into position in broad daylight. Consequently, when we for the order to go over, bingo, we got it."
