Description

Portrait of Colonel James A. Calder and his new bride, Monica. She is wearing a simple white dress and veiled hat; and holding a bouquet of flowers. Being a "War Bride" Monica was able to follow Colonel Calder to Canada. They moved to Westmount and were both very involved in the regimental well-being. Due to the war, weddings were not extravagant. Military men would wear their uniforms and women would use a dress previously owned or borrowed.
