Description

Three medals attached to a metal bar: The 1914 - 1915 Star, The British War Medal, and The Victory Medal.

Use

The 1914–15 Star is a campaign medal of the British Empire which was awarded to officers and men of British and Imperial forces who served in any theatre of the First World War against the Central European Powers during 1914 and 1915. The medal was never awarded singly and recipients also received the British War Medal and Victory Medal.

These three medals, the 1914-1915 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal are sometimes referred to as "Pip, Squeak and Wilfred", a soldier's nickname for them, after the characters in a British newspaper cartoon strip (which was published starting in 1919).
