On the Beach at DieppeEntry/Object ID
2016x.17.17Description
A black and white photo of four German soldiers standing alongside a battle-damaged British Churchill tank. It couldn't make it off the beach of Dieppe having lost one of its tracks on the stony 'shingle' beach, the fate of many of the tanks which landed.
The thin 'U' shaped pipes were attachments to heighten their exhausts for wading through the surf.
This photograph taken by German soldiers was later captured and was received by the Regimental newsletter "Intercomn" in May 1945.Photograph Details
