A black and white photo of Henri Hubert, a winner of the George Medal.
While stationed overseas with the Royal Montreal Regiment, Henri Hubert exercised great and selfless courage when, while helping to evacuate babies from a bombed-out nursery, he got trapped on the 3rd floor when the building collapsed. He and his charges were able to escape to safety by clinging to overhead wires. For his courage, he was presented the George Medal by HRH Princess Alice.
As an employee of Northern Electric, Henri Hubert witnessed on the Lachine Canal two young boys in difficulty in the waters. After removing his jacket and glasses, he dove into the Canal, rescued both, and reanimated them by applying artificial respiration. For his courage, he was presented with a financial gift by the boys' father.Photograph Details
