Portrait of Capt Rodolphe De Serres. He is wearing a cap badge of the 163rd Battalion while still wearing the collar dogs of the 14th Bn CEF (RMR). He has a moustache. Roddy Deserres was a French Canadian raised in Montreal. He served in Canada's prewar Militia, with Les Carabiniers Mont-Royal, enlisted with the 14th Bn (RMR). and, after the 2nd battle of Ypres, served with the 163rd Bn. When that Bn. was disbanded in 1917 he served in the Royal 22e Regiment, under Lt Col Henri Desrosiers, another founding member of the 14th CEF (RMR)
