Market Day at Camp Nathan SmithEntry/Object ID
2019.11.43Description
A small bazaar assembled at the entrance of Camp Nathan Smith near Kandahar City. Given the dangers of living and serving in a Combat Zone, Canadian soldiers were not permitted to venture into the usual public Bazaars of Kandahar City. Consequently, these merchants would come to the soldier. The merchants, and their merchandise, were thoroughly inspected and they would be given access to a controlled zone of the military base.
Hanging from the fence are some traditional Afghan rugs and other fabrics. Other goods are displayed on tables and blankets for the soldiers to see.Photograph Details
