Description

The Pledge of Victory cross was a small crucifix given to Allied service people during the Second World War. They were made out of the first plastic ever invented; Bakelite. These crosses were usually given out during large religious services, specifically leading up to D-Day in June of 1944.

Use

The 3.8 cm x 5.4 cm crucifix was small enough for soldiers to carry around, and it served as a symbol of resilience, hope, selflessness and protection.
