6. Vegetable ivory carved umbrella needlecase with a very short handle that has a Stanhope 'peeps' insertion. A twisted cord has been added by a later user to keep the tool safe from loss.
7. The shaft of the needlecase is carved with barber pole style lines and has a pointer tip, the cap is of nut and has aged to a lovely honey color. The capis flat on the top with barber pole style lines along the sides ending in open circles along the bottom of the cap. The cap screws onto the shaft.
8. A two-piece needlecase made of nut, possibly Tagua nut, the top has a bone finial with a hole for a ribbon attachment or may have had a Stanhope at one time. The dome of the top has a pie-crust edging with a short staff below with holes around the shaft. The tope screws onto the bottom. The bottom is a longer shaft with holes punched around the sides and mirrors the dome of the cap at the bottom with a dome shape surrounded by pie-crust edging.Context
