Description

Swedish Royal Gold Thread Embroidery Sampler stitched by Nina Ulrika Sohlberg of Stockholm, Sweden, c. 1890. Gold thread on deep red velvet ground; seven individual motifs surrounding a central floral rectangular motif and one vertical bar stitched of gold metal thread stitched over card. Individual motifs include, two crowns, an acorn with leaves, a phoenix, a heraldic lion, a pomegranate, a laurel leaf and the maker’s cipher, N/S in the lower left corner. Framed.
