The three cockerels on the shield may represent the cant for the Cockburn Scottish surname that originated in the borders regions of the Scottish lowlands. This is an art study for an embroidery. The embroidery is not in the SFSNAD collection and it is unknown if Ms. Creelman ever stitched this piece.
