Scope and Content

A Christmas greeting card with a red printed message inside 'Thinking of you and wishing you every happiness at Christmas and through the coming year'. It is folded at the top and has a Currier and Ives colored picture of Central Park In Winter on the front. Also inside is a personal hand written note to Wilbur & Eleanor from C. S. Ough.

Context

Dear Wilbur & Eleanor: Sounds like you have been busy. I'm afraid I can't quite match your travel. I did get to Bulgaria for a conference on the Black Sea. Went to Montreal for a conference and wine judging. Spent a couple of days in Washington D. C. testifying before FDA ands BATF on ethyl carbonate. Turns out I'm the resident expert. I did get to Paseo, Washington to talk to that group in the Northwest. My wife died in August from a long nd hard illness with emphysema. Sure do miss someone you have lived with for a lifetime. I have agreed to lead a group to Australia and New Zealand for People to People in 1990. I'm taking a sabbatical leave starting this January to go to Australia Wine Research Institute for 4 months then 2 months in South Africa at Stellenbosch. I'll believe - 30°F hardiness when I see the vines in the spring if I were you. - Wish you both the best.
