Note

Ted Cutler rented the farm from Helen Cromer on stock shares. It was a living, but did not provide much more than covering the cost of living. There was no extra money to save to buy a farm of his own. Vera Cutler made the best of what she could to make the house livable. There was no insulation in the house. It was heated by a wood/coal furnace. The fire went out during the night. It was important to have plenty of blankets and socks to keep warm all night. It did have indoor plumbing, and it had electricity. In 1962, the Cutler family moved 4 miles straight west to Cedardale farm owned by Wendell Clampitt.
