Context

The review took place on May 31, 1934, and involved President Roosevelt aboard the cruiser USS Indianapolis. The event was a display of U.S. naval power, with ships from various classes participating. The film footage shows the USS Columbia, possibly an excursion steamship, as the review platform, along with other vessels like a Coast Guard cutter and J.P. Morgan's yacht, Corsair. The USS Texas, along with her sister ship USS New York, were also present, with the Texas positioned just behind the New York.
