Posted aboard USS Texas on July 3, 1933 to commemorate the thirty-fifth anniversary of the USS Texas and USS Oregon destroying the Spanish Fleet in the Battle of Santiago Bay, Cuba. Hand drawn cachet in the shape of a law enforcement badge. Written on the top "35th Anniversary / old "Oregon-Texas"". In the middle is a patriotic American shield, separated in two by the “BATTLESHIP OREGON” rubber stamp - a purple, hand stamped, "Battleship Oregon / Portland, Oregon". Written in the middle in red ink, "In Battle / Santiago Bay / Cuba". Written at the bottom in black ink, "1898-July 3-1933". Signed at the bottom left of the shield is Edw[ard] E. Bryan, as sponsor of the cachet. Signed on the bottom right of the shield in green is E.O. Tauer, the USS Texas cachet designer. This cover was mailed from the USS Texas in Bremerton, Washington (BREMERTON / WASHINGTON inserted between the killer bars) to Bryan's residence in Albany, Oregon.
